The JACA Residency Program 2012/1 has started last month. The selected artists have been developing their projects around the neighbourhood having in mind the interaction with the local space and the community. During the Residency, curators from different cities visit JACA and work with us for a week.
Beatriz Lemos, from Rio de Janeiro, is an independent curator who is interested in contemporary art and its developments into network. She took part in a presentation of the artist’s work and also chat with the residents about their projects and how to make them true.
The Center also received the short visit of the Spanish curator Juan de Nieves, who was in Belo Horizonte for a Congress about museums produced by Museu da Cidade and Instituto Cervantes.
In the next two weeks, Paulo Miyada and Ana Luisa Lima are also going to land in the Brazilian region of Minas Gerais. Miyada is a curator, architect and town planner and Lima is a curator and editor of the magazine Revista Tatuí (www.revistatatui.com). During their stay here, besides participating in activities with the artists, they will attend exhibitions and events in Belo Horizonte.
