Besides the artists Meera Margaret Singh and Vijai Patchineelam are also taking part on JA.CA’s Residency Program 2012/1 Alejandro Tobón Rojas and Edgar Mazo, from Colombia, and Inês Linke and Louise Ganz, from Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Assuming the scarcity of local food production, the group Thislandyourland, with Inês Linke and Louise Ganz, proposes to discuss the degree of autonomy of the community of Jardim Canadá regarding the economic market system. Through a survey of sources – animals and their products, vegetables, herbs, medicinal herbs and others, cultivated by the residents, the group indends to open a restaurant temporarily to process what is found and so reveal ways of spatial occupation of this neighbourhood.
The artist Alejandro Rojas and the architect Edgar Mazo are going to develop the project Creativity as a Tool in the Community. The work will enable individuals to improve manual skills so that they can get self sustainable. The residents of JA.CA in June and July 2012, both Mazo and Rojas want to provoke the development of self-management through the creation and manufacture of useful objects that can be made and sold at low cost.
